fishRadar started as a Polish fishing application. Built from the ground up for Polish anglers -- with PZW regulations, IMGW water data, and a fishing map that understands Polish fishery districts. That foundation stays exactly as it is. What changes is reach.
As of 16 June 2026, fishRadar is available in three languages: Polish, English and Ukrainian. The app interface, fishing spot descriptions, bite forecast, map, community chat and help -- all translated and adapted. This is deliberate localisation, so every user can navigate the app in the language they know best.
Why English and Ukrainian
The choice of languages was deliberate.
The English version opens fishRadar to international anglers visiting Poland, to the Polish diaspora abroad, and to the English-speaking community interested in fishing on Polish waters. Poland has some of the finest freshwater fishing in Central Europe -- and the number of visitors from other countries who know this is growing.
The Ukrainian version responds to a real and present need. Over one million Ukrainian citizens live in Poland -- many of them fish, many of them look for information in their own language. The Ukrainian angling community is active and substantial. fishRadar in Ukrainian is not a gesture of goodwill. It is a concrete answer to a question we received regularly: will you have a Ukrainian version? Yes. We will. We do.
What Has Been Translated
A language version in fishRadar is not just swapping button labels. It is end-to-end localisation:
- Mobile app interface -- fishing spot screens, map, fish card, diary form, menus, settings
- Homepage and public pages -- available at fishradar.pl/en/ and fishradar.pl/ua/
- Fishing map -- area names, tooltips, species and method filters
- Bite forecast and solunar -- fish activity state descriptions, scale labels

User-generated content -- posts, comments, fishing spot reviews -- remains in the language it was written in. Automatic machine translation of community content is not applied.
How to Switch Language in fishRadar
You can change the language in two places:
- In the mobile app -- Settings > Language > choose from the list (Polish / English / Ukrainian)
- On the website -- language switcher in the top-right corner, or directly via /en/ and /ua/ paths
The change is instant and does not require a new login. Your language preference is saved and remembered on subsequent visits.
For English-Speaking Anglers in Poland
Tourists and visitors -- anglers from Germany, Scandinavia, Belgium and beyond who want to know where to fish in Poland, what documentation is required, and what Polish waters look like. An English interface makes the app useful from the very first launch.
Diaspora and expats -- Polish anglers living abroad who return to fish in their home country and often operate more comfortably in English in a digital context.
For Ukrainian Anglers in Poland
For anglers from Ukraine living and fishing in Poland, the Ukrainian version includes:
- Explanations of regulations and obligations (fishing card, PZW permit, catch limits) written from first principles
- Translation of fish species names from Ukrainian common names to Polish names used in PZW regulations
- Information on where and how to purchase permits as a non-resident
Polish water does not ask for citizenship -- and neither does fishRadar.

Yes -- fishRadar is designed for both regular and occasional anglers. The fishing map shows all registered fishery districts, their regulations and required permits. The bite forecast works for any location in Poland and is available to guest users without an account.

Are the translations professional or machine-generated?
